Roland founded Right Site after his tenure at Kirkland’s. It stemmed from his personal experiences of working for a retailer and owning/operating his own stores. Before this, he had difficulties in matching the correct retailer with the right site. Yet, he developed a solution—a unique analytical approach to site selection. This makes his own business work and yield irrefutable results like sales increases for new shops of his clients.

He studied Business Management at the University of Texas. Afterward, he worked in management and leasing for the Bass Brothers in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. He then became a realtor for Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers in Memphis, Tennessee. At this stint, he first created his analytical site selection tool which has developed into what his company uses today.

Prior to establishing his own company, he was an executive vice president at Kirkland’s. During this time, he got to learn business beyond real estate by working with experienced merchants and operations executives every day.

Bud recognizes the challenge that Roland faces with regard to finding the perfect shop location for new retailers. Having worked with numerous traditional brokers for many years, he sees what’s best for both retailers and landlords. Bud received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Valparaiso University and a Master of Business Administration from Marquette University. Fresh out of school, Bud began working for IBM. He also spent a decade learning business from executives at The Pyramid Companies, a well-known real estate company for shopping centers.

Afterward, he partnered with Poag & McEwen, recognized as the founder of the Lifestyle Center concept. During this stint, he led a team in leasing and opening 10 new centers in nine years for prominent national and regional retailers.

For seven years, he also became an executive vice president at Kite Realty Group in Indianapolis, Indiana. He oversaw a large team devoted to 120 centers and participated in the doubling of its portfolio during his tenure at the REIT.
